Projects
NC Special Olypmics
Club members provide lunches for athletes twice a year. Preparations include ordering and pick up of items (bread, cheese, turkey, ham, gloves, chips, condiments, cookies, fruit, baggies, etc.). Fundraising efforts during the year cover the costs of the lunches. Members meet at the Cary Aquatics Center in the Spring and The Jim Hunt Horse Complex Center in the Fall to make the lunches. Close to 500 lunches are served to the athletes.

The Arc
In addition to monetary support, club members participate in hands-on projects with this group. We assist with their monthly PIzza/Game night by playing games, celebrating birthdays, passing out food, and interacting with our friends. We have dinner with them and view a movie once a month on Dinner/Movie night. Some members even join our friends on the dance floor for their monthly dances.

Group Home
We love visiting our girlfriends at a local group home. We play Crazy Bingo with them and then enjoy a potluck dinner together. Every Christmas we help decorate their Christmas Tree and are delighted to see their faces when Santa drops by with presents for each of the ladies. Each resident is, also, recognized with special gifts on their birthdays.

Boys and Girls Home of NC Camelia Gardens Nursing Home
Located along the beautiful Lake Waccammaw, this facility houses children who have been removed from their home for various reasons. Civitans opened the first cottage here many years ago and have been longtime supporters. Residents receive cards year round from club members to show we care. Financially, residents receive support at Christmas, on birthdays, and as items are needed for their cottage. Graduates have received laptops for use as the continue to pursue a higher education. Recently,, a craft day was held which involved a lot of fun and creativity with woodworking, painting, card making and many other activities.

Every other month we visit with our friends at this local nursing facility. We look forward to seeing them as much as they look forward to our visits. We bring a variety of prizes for the residents to earn by playing several lively games of Crazy Bingo. Afterwards, we fellowship together over punch and snacks that club members have provided. Since many of these residents have limited means, we try to support them in other ways throughout the year. Member have visited sick residents in the hospital, brought clothes to those in need, and stuffed socks at Christmas time with all kinds of goodies purchased by club members.
